Gregg B. Brelsford has served as a senior leader in the Rule-of-Law development and public administration fields, and as a law professor (Intellectual Property and IP licensing) and practicing lawyer. Based in Cairo, he led the American Bar Association, Rule of Law Initiative, entitled “Innovation in Teaching and Training in the Egyptian Legal System” (2012-2016). In this capacity, Professor Brelsford taught practical legal skills to law students, and also created the Training of Trainers program to train approximately 1,000 judges, prosecutors, law professors, and lawyers to teach practical law skills and specialized topics to their law sector-colleagues using contemporary training methods and strategies.
He also pioneered on-line practical-skills legal training in Egypt. He currently serves as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of The Law, a Cairo-based Egyptian practical legal skills training institute. Professor Brelsford has served as senior in-house counsel in NASDAQ and NYSE-listed global technology corporations and practiced in a prominent international law firm in South Korea and in the United States. He has been a commercial mediator and arbitrator as well.
Recently, Professor Brelsford served as the Borough Manager, and first Covid-19 Incident Commander, of the remotely-located Bristol Bay Borough in Alaska - the first borough formed in the state of Alaska and the heart of the world’s largest red (sockeye) salmon fishery, a yearly $1 billion industry. Additionally, Professor Brelsford earlier served in senior executive positions in numerous Alaska Native tribal organizations. He has served as an Adjunct Law Professor, and Visiting Law Professor, in the United States, Egypt, Tunisia, Bahrain, Estonia, Kosovo and Albania. Professor Brelsford holds B.A. and Master’s in Public Administration degrees from the University of Alaska, Anchorage and a J.D. degree from Harvard Law School. He is licensed to practice law in New York, Washington, D.C., California and Utah and is a member of the Law Society of England and Wales (not practicing). Mr. Brelsford has produced more than 40 publications and professional presentations in rule-of-law development, commercial and IP law, public administration, health administration, ethics, and anthropology.
